Dirty Reds prepare for historic Henson Park clash

Dirty Reds prepare for historic Henson Park clash

Newtown stars Royce Tout, Malakai Houma, Ryan King and Ben Marschke have been added to the Glebe-Burwood side to take on Hills District at Henson Park on Saturday afternoon.

Tout has been one of the standouts for Glebe-Burwood in the opening rounds before getting a run with Newtown in New Zealand last week. King, Houma and Marschke have all turned out for the Dirty Reds earlier in the year but missed last week’s 42-22 win over St Marys.

It will be the first time in history that the Reds have played at Henson Park. The ground was first used for rugby league in 1936, more than six years after Glebe was axed from the first grade competition. And to make the occasion all the more special, the Dirty Reds will play at 3pm – after the Frank Hyde Cup game between Newtown and North Sydney – which – as the channel 9 game for the afternoon – will be played at 1pm.

All Dirty Reds fans are encouraged to get out there and join what’s expected to be a big Henson Park crowd on Saturday and cheer the boys on. As always, we will be heading back to Club York after the game for a few beers with the players. All are welcome.

Ray Lesoa (illness), Jackson Garlick (sternum) and Latrell Robinson (ankle) are all unavailable while Jowasa Drodrolagi has been selected in the Belrose side to take on Hills at Lionel Watts on Sunday at 3pm.
